Environmental Data

EPD + GWP

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

AN EOD is a Nutrition Label for a Products Environmental Footprint
  • EPDs provide environmental data based on an independently verified life cycle assessment.
  • EPDs may report a variety of life cycle impacts including global warming potential, acidification, eutrophication, ozone depletion, and smog formation.

Global Warming Potential (GWP)

A lower GWP is the most widely sought after number on an EPD
  • GWP is a measure of how much energy the emissions of a gas will absorb over a given period, relative to the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2).
  • The larger the GWP the more that gas warms the earth compared to CO2.

Sustainable Presentation

Steel Dynamics exclusively uses Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and recycled steel in its steel mill operations, resulting in less carbon emissions and less energy usage. New Millennium outperforms the industry average with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP).

Helping to build a sustainable future with steel joists and deck, New Millennium can meet LEEDv4 requirements and provide recycled content, materials, and product declaration information. Download our sustainable practices interactive PDF to learn more.
