WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists
Glued finger-joint splices for superior hybrid wood-on-steel roof systems
Stiffer wood-nailer joists are safer to handle on the job site
WN-Series® joists are finger-jointed providing a continuous force path along the entire length of the joist. Watch as engineers and erectors describe the benefits of this better-performing wood-nailer joist.
Glued finger-joint splices make New Millennium WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists stronger, stiffer, and more efficient.
WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists are open-web steel joists with continuous 2- or 2½-inch-thick wood nailers. Glued finger-joint splices maintain structural continuity in the full length of the joist. This innovative design produces a stronger, more efficient, and better-performing joist
A steel and wood hybrid product, WN-Series® Joists facilitate the installation of wood decking over steel joists in the field. These joists are available in two profiles: parallel chord joists and single-pitched top chord joists. Both profiles are available with underslung or square ends with pitches up to 2 inches per foot. Overall depths range from 26.5 to 50.5 inches and spans from 24 to 70 feet.
WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists feature a tension-controlled design
WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists feature a tension-controlled design for increased load sharing under extreme gravity overload conditions. Tension-controlled design allows each joist to flex in the event of an overload to establish a time delay before the collapse of a roof or floor structure.
WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists are built in accordance with Steel Joist Institute specifications. In addition to ESR-3376, WN-Series® are recognized by ICC report for ICC AC-449, the acceptance criteria for tension-controlled open-web steel joists.
Benefits of WN-Series® Wood Nailer Joists
- Enhanced top chord lateral stiffness for safer handling, assembly, and erection
- Minimized nailer widths for more consistent sub-purlin cut lengths
- Reduced joist marks due to increased concentrated load flexibility
- ICC-approved under ICC AC-449 acceptance criteria for tension-controlled open-web steel joists
